We’re embarking on the holiday season which means there are a lot of requests for donations and helping those who are less fortunate.
It’s in that spirit that I want to highlight a few organizations that are doing good things and are related to food. If you know of an organization I should highlight, let me know!
Please make sure to donate either your time and/or money this year!
- Capital Area Food Bank – For $15, you can pay for Thanksgiving food basket for a “seasoned member of the community” (meaning a senior citizen). You can also volunteer — check it out!
- Miriam’s Kitchen – They’re looking for personal item donations, volunteer time, and financial contributions.
- Homeless Walkathon – Occurring on November 17th in DC, Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, LA, and Seattle, it’s a good cause that cost only $25 to participate. Grab some friends and walk for the homeless! I am!
- America’s Second Harvest – I read an amazing story in the Wall Street Journal a year or so ago about their backpack program and completely fell in love with what they’re doing. I think it’s great!
- Answer questions, feed the hungry – By taking a few minutes out of your day, you can feed the hungry.
