I have always talked about wanting to go to Bar Louie (menu here) and just went after seeing the Sex and the City movie.  I didn’t realize, until just now, that it’s a bit of a chain!

Food:I ordered the Baja fish tacos which were pretty good.  The fish was seasoned very well (and not fried, yay!).  [...]

The evening started out rough when we went to Hudson and no one waited on my friend and me.  We were both dressed business casual (coming straight from the office) yet NO ONE WAITED ON US.  We sat there for 15 minutes and nothing.  And in case you’re thinking, “Well, they were busy/short-staffed.”  No, there [...]

I had gone to Tonic for a drink before when a friend and I were waiting for a couple of seats to open at Adam Express.  We decided to go back when Thai Fest Day was cancelled due to the rain.  Although we didn’t know that and so we drove up there.  Then when we realized there was no [...]

Across the street from Casa Blana is Vermont Village Cafe.  It kinda reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with Babu Bhatt and his restaurant that offers a lot of different ethnic foods.  Some of their offerings can be found here.  They have a bigger menu at their restaurant (including breakfast).

Food:I was in a meat mood and so I [...]

My friend was craving a Philly Steak sandwich but didn’t have a lot of time to run out for lunch so we decided to try out California Grill (when you click, there’s a link to the menu).

Food: I love turkey reubens like no one else so that’s what I ordered.  It was solid and decent food.  [...]

Right across from City Place Cafe is Sunrise Cafe.  While they don’t have a menu available (just a big board when you walk in), they do offer a wide variety of options.  One day, maybe I’ll feel adventurous enough to take a photo.

Food: One of my favorite sandwiches is their chicken gyros ($6 includes tax) because the chicken [...]

I know, I know — Morton’s is a chain, but unlike some other chains (ahem, none to be mentioned here but take a look at the list of “Restaurants I’ve Been”), they’ve managed to still be pretty good.

Food: First, let’s talk about their enormous (freshly baked?) onion bread they plop in front of you.  It’s the [...]

After hearing so many great things about Blue Duck Tavern, I finally went. Why did it take me so long to go?

Food:I went with a client and thankfully, a cool client that’s into sharing! So we ordered their braised barbecue beef “long rib”, crab cakes, triple fried fries, and glazed baby carrots.  The fries were more [...]

I know I said I’d only blog about the really good restaurants, but sometimes there are good concepts that don’t go quite as I think the chefs meant.  I think that’s what happened with Left Bank breakfasts.
Before I get to the food, I wanted to bring up that the chairs (not the booths) are just [...]

I finally went to Georgia Brown’s the other day and ordered their fried chicken.  I really liked that the meat was all white and there was only the leg bone.  The mashed potatoes were pretty good but overall, it was too salty.  Was it worth $22?
You’ll see I listed under “Places I’ve been” but I [...]

I don’t know why, but the Beacon is always viewed as a good place for HH (happy hour) and food.  Personally, I disagree.  Instead, I prefer to tell people about Nage.

Food:While their menu can seem somewhat limited (it’s seasonal), their chalkboard offers another 10 various options — and from that menu, you can have a pre-fixe [...]

I’ve been to Olives a handful of times and have never gotten anything but a really good (albeit expensive) meal.

Food:I ordered the Greek-style Baby Red Romaine Salad with tomatoes, cucumber, mixed olives, red onions, oregano, and crispy phyllo-wrapped feta.  But the star salad was the grilled squid and octopus with a vinaigrette of chickpeas, tomatoes, toasted [...]

You already know I went to Breadline once before.  I felt like going again to try their Oyster Po Boy sandwich since I heard so much about it.
As you can see from the photo, the sandwich was very creamy.  I hate mayo, so for me, it was too much remoulade sauce.  The good stuff in [...]

I went to Corduroy in their old location (Four Points Sheraton) with a client and a colleague.

Food:We ordered the oysters on the half shell with champagne mignonette which was really good.   I could have eaten 30 of these (OK, maybe only 25).  We also started with Filipino styled eggrolls.  There were two rolls on the plate that [...]

Yet again, I’ve ventured to Virginia!  This time, it was for Farrah Olivia during Restaurant Week with P3.

Food:Offering their entire menu during RW (with a few extra charges for some dishes), it was an overall outstanding experience.  P3 ordered the painted soup with fruitwood smoked apple, gingered squash, and beet cider.  P3 loved the smoky apples [...]

I’ve been to Vidalia for lunch and I remember really enjoying the meal.  I haven’t been there for happy hour, but I think that’s going to have to change soon.
Check it out: Monday-Friday from 5:30-6:30 PM, they have a wine tasting with a new theme and three wines for each day of the week.  Vidalia [...]

The purpose of Restaurant Week, in my opinion, is to go to places that are a bit out of your price range so you can “test” them at an inexpensive price and see whether you’d want to go back as a “normal” customer.
As soon as Restaurant Week was announced, Kinkead’s was one of the first places [...]

Hi there, I’m P3 and am blogging today’s restaurant review.
My friend and I went to Central Michel Richard at 5:30, before theatre (even though they don’t really have a pre-theatre menu) and it was already starting to fill up fast.

Food:To start with, I ordered the iceberg and bleu cheese salad which had too much bleu [...]

**Update 7/1/08 - I went again and it will seriously be the last time.  My friend, who doesn’t live here anymore, wanted to go.  So I relented.  I ordered the Cheesesteak Sliders and they were underseasoned and underinspired.  The beef was dry and overcooked.  Did they lose their chef?  Too bad.  I really liked them.**

From left to right, it’s [...]

Sometimes, you just want a good burger and fries for lunch.  You know it’s wrong because it’s unhealthy.  But you just can’t help it.  You have to give in.  And that’s when you go to Ollie’s Trolley (Ollie’s Trolley Menu and Ollie’s Trolley Menu Side B – once it downloads, click on the bottom right big photo icon to see the menu).

Food: [...]

You could easily walk past it and not even realize, but nestled in between a rib joint and a former Chinese restaurant, here’s another great find in the area.

Food:  Their menu offers something for everyone.  While I’ve had their pizza, their 3.6.9 mini burgers and onion straws are my favorite.  Today though, I felt like expanding my [...]

Friends, I went to Westend Bistro recently.  I didn’t go the first day they opened, but I went!  I don’t think you could have talked to me for 5 minutes without me saying, “I’m going to Westend.  You know, Eric Ripert’s restaurant.”  To say I was excited and looking forward to going is like saying, “Children [...]

Went to 15ria with a couple of friends who love food more than I do. So when we get together, watch out! Ha ha, just kidding. But it is always fun to go out for food with them.
Here’s something else — you can bring your own wines (corkage fee applies).

Food: For the table, we ordered [...]

If you’ve never been, you must.  Right up there with the National Monument is visiting Ben’s Chili Bowl.  I’m telling you this as a person who took 2 years to visit.  I have such regret and remorse that it took me this long to visit.
You must visit this 2004 James Beard Foundation winner.  Words cannot describe my [...]

**Update 11/20/07: I went.  Click here for my review.**
Super Chef Eric Ripert’s Westend Bistro will be opening on November 8th.  No doubt the line will be ridiculous, but it will be worth it.
His new restaurant, according to Zagat buzz, is going to be “classic French and American fare (think fish burgers with saffron aïoli and roast stuffed [...]

**Update 6/24 — Restaurant K has closed.**
Restaurant K recently opened and I was excited.  I had heard a lot of great things about Alison Swope, so I had some high expectations.  From their Web site, they describe the restaurant as one that will “feature modern American cooking, a contemporary twist on traditional comfort foods utilizing local [...]
