I hate raisins so I didn’t put any in as this recipe suggested.  But, I did think this was a great recipe for scones.  What I loved was that I was able to make 20 smaller ones which would be a great size if you were having guests or wanted to put into a food gift basket.

Besides being very easy, they were really good.  They were flakey and moist — perfect!  They had a slight sweet taste and if you prefer something sweeter, you could make a little frosting to put over them. 

Next time, I think I’d throw in cranberries in the mix.   Someone mentioned adding lemon zest and poppyseeds.  You could add chunks of apples and cinnamon.  This  is a great standard mixture.

**Update 7/25: I made this recipe again recently and this time, added apples and raisins.  They were delicious.  I didn’t make any modifications except to add 2 cups of chopped and peeled apples.
